Preston Hall Museum

Stockton on Tees

I was the lead designer for the £1.2m redevelopment of the Preston Hall Museum. The Museum has an extensive collection from archaeology through to weapons, ceramics, decorative arts, social history and textiles.

The challenge was to display as much of this diverse collection as possible in new and imaginative ways to attract new audiences and reveal objects that had been in storage for years.

I worked closely with the client team to tease out the stories and themes for the exhibition. I designed layouts for over fifty display cases, each featuring objects from diverse collection types and each telling a unique story and each showing the objects as creatively as possible.

The cased displays were integrated with large objects on open display, graphics and simple low-tech physical interactives that I developed.
