Desert Discovery

Eureka! The National Children’s Museum, Halifax

I was the in-house designer at Eureka! when I designed Desert Discovery in 2005.

Desert Discovery is an interactive gallery for children under five years old. This includes babies, who have their own dedicated soft-play area within the gallery - the Baby Oasis, complete with a peek-a-boo palm tree!

The gallery is split into two halves - Daytime and Desert in the Dark. The Daytime desert includes Boulder Construction with a ‘bucket lift’ for moving soft-play “boulders” from one end of the gallery to the other. Desert in the Dark has the Wiley coyote…he howls when his head is patted!

Desert Discovery is still looking fresh today and is still a favourite with young visitors.
