Creswell Crags Museum
Creswell Crags, nr. Worksop
Creswell Crags is the only place in Britain to have authenticated Ice Age cave art. In 2009 a new visitor centre was opened, including a museum to house objects discovered at the Crags as well as display objects on loan from the British Museum and Natural History Museum.
The objects discovered at Creswell Crags form a nationally important collection including primitive hand tools as well as the remains of a number of species that were once regular visitors to Britain - hyenas, woolly rhinoceros and hippopotamus! These objects together tell the story of life in Ice Age Britain.
Working for Continuum I designed the exhibition which featured strong graphic elements juxtaposed with the objects to create striking cased displays. The style was clean and unfussy, letting the objects take centre stage, highlighted with dramatic lighting.
