Our Global Garden | Interactive Exhibits

Eureka! The National Children’s Museum, Halifax

I worked at Eureka! as the in-house designer for two years from 2004. One of my first projects there was to design some new interactive and playful exhibits for the existing Our Global Garden gallery.

These are two of my favourite exhibits:

Rat Vision - a giant sculpted rat’s head that could be pulled down over the visitor’s head for a rat’s-eye view of the world! It made a great, if slightly unusual, photo opp!

Spiders - this exhibit featured real (tho dead!) jungle spiders with a magnifying glass for a close-up view. It also had a “feely hole” - dare you put your hand inside?! Children were keen to have a go…adults were more reluctant! (The feely hole had fine brush bristles fixed inside to tickle your hand.)
