HMS Caroline

National Museum of the Royal Navy, Belfast

HMS Caroline is the last survivor of the Battle of Jutland in 1916, the largest naval battle ever fought. She has been docked in Belfast since 1924 and is now a floating museum featuring recreated historic spaces, such as the captain’s cabins and mess hall, and interactive galleries. Visitors can explore the ship and experience a taste of life at sea in 1916.

Working for Petrichor, I designed the three interactive galleries - Signal School, Torpedo School and the Virtual Access Suite. The galleries feature freestanding display structures and a range of hands-on and multimedia interactives. The Torpedo School also includes exhibits about ‘dazzle’ camouflage with a dazzle pattern running across the floor, bulkheads, display furniture and graphics.

HMS Caroline was a finalist in the Art Fund’s Museum of the Year 2019.
